Job Description:

Outreach GP Practice Nurse  - Dublin City Centre




1 Year Fixed Term Contract

The Role

Be part of the new primary care initiative with the prospect of both clinical and commercial career advancement. The Outreach Nurse will provide specific primary care nursing services, diagnostic testing and screening to patients in a GP practice setting.


Hours of work –

Monday to Friday 9am-5pm


Salary and package –

€45k – DOE and comprehensive benefits package


The Person

You have a patient focused approach with the ability to get things done. You demonstrate accountability and strong commercial awareness coupled with excellent communication and organisational skills. You are self-motivated and constantly seeking smarter ways of working. You are pragmatic in your approach to how you challenge whilst ensuring compliance and best practice at all times.


Basic Requirements:  

  1. Must be a registered nurse

  2. Experience in GP practice preferable but not essential

  3. Excellent interpersonal skills

  4. Proven attention to detail and follow through

  5. Self-starter/Demonstrates initiative

  6. Computer literate in in Outlook, Word and Excel

  7. Strong administration skills

  8. Competent in working with Patient databases / IT systems

  9. A clean, full driving license

  • Responsibility for Action - Makes Improvement with Own Initiative. Actively takes responsibility. Can deal with several tasks at once. Identifies changes to existing systems, process and procedure which improve quality and or use of resources.




    Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the NBD Manager, below is an outline of responsibilities:


    • Analyse patient data to group and categorise patients and identify screening needs.

    • Contact patients to discuss screening needs and arrange appointments.

    • Schedule patient appointments to maximise patient numbers per day.

    • Carry out diagnostic testing and screening such as ECG, Flu Vaccinations, 24hr blood pressure monitors, to a high standard.

    • Provide and excellent level of patient care.

    • Liaise with the GP and/or Practice Manager on patient care and equipment requirements.

    • Understand underlying patient concerns and communicate effectively in difficult situations.

    • Collate data for company and the GP to facilitate reimbursement and clinical audit as required.

    • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines to support the service.

    • All administration and paperwork required.
