Well done to the Irish Paralympian Team – bringing home 16 medals

The Irish Paralympic team will arrive home tonight from the 2012 Paralympic Games in London with a total of 16 medals.

The Games ended last night with a spectacular closing ceremony in front of a stadium audience of more than 80,000 people.

Ireland’s Paralympians won eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

The team is due to touch down at Dublin at about 7pm. They will be welcomed home by Minister of State for Sport Michael Ring.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny will host a reception for the team at Farmleigh on Friday.

They will be honoured by President Michael D Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin next month.
